How Can You Help Protect Yourself?

Take these steps to thwart criminals from gaining access to your accounts and personal information.
Protect Yourself Against Phishing & Spoofing

Monitor your accounts for unusual activity

Through online banking, you can monitor your United Bank accounts for unusual activity 24/7. You also can monitor your accounts from your smartphone or tablet.

If you do not have Internet access, call 413- 787-1234 or 866-320-8780 to use our telephone banking system and access your accounts from any touchtone telephone.

Do not provide information over the phone or by email

Legitimate organizations will never ask you to verify your personal or account information via unsolicited email or phone call. If you receive an email that appears to be from United Bank or other organization, or a phone call from someone claiming to be a representative of the Bank or other organization, do not provide any personal information (including date of birth, credit or debit card number, Social Security number or driver’s license number).

Destroy your old cards

If you receive a replacement United Bank debit card in the mail, please destroy your old card immediately. If you have automatic deductions on your card, be sure to notify the vendors or merchants of your new card number.

Report suspected fraud

Protecting your identity and financial information is our main priority. If you suspect your accounts have been compromised, or you are the victim of fraud, please call us at 413-787-1700 or 866-320-8780, or speak with a member of our staff at any office.

Review your credit report regularly

Reviewing your credit report at least once a year can help guard against identity theft by ensuring thieves have not used your personal information to open a new account or apply for credit in your name.

The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) requires each of the nationwide consumer credit reporting companies (Equifax, Experian and TransUnion) to provide you with a free copy of your credit report, at your request, once every 12 months.

The three nationwide consumer reporting companies have set up one central website, toll-free telephone number and mailing address through which you can order your free annual report(s):
