Q. Why are you offering this new service to customers?

A. Online Account Opening is just another way we are providing new and existing customers access to a more convenient banking experience online.

Q. Can anyone apply through online account opening?

A. At this time, only residents of the following states can open a consumer account online. Applicants must be at least 18 years old to open an individual or joint account. Applicants under 18 years old are eligible to open select products but must apply with a custodian.

Q. Can I open a business account online?

A. At this time, businesses in the states listed below can open accounts online.

Q. What devices can people use to open an account online?

A. Desktop, laptop, Apple or Android devices that are smartphones or tablets.

Q. Do applicants need an email address to apply to open an account online?

A. Yes, emails will be sent to you during the online application process.

Q. Are all the same products offered in the branches also offered if I want to open an account online?

Q. What information do I need to apply online?

A. Please have the following information available before you begin your online application:

For new customers: You will need your Social Security number, driver’s license or other government issued photo ID, State ID, Military ID or Passport. If a checking or savings account from another bank will be used to fund the new account(s), the bank routing number and account number will be needed. If you are opening an HSA and funding with a transfer or rollover, you will need your most recent statement from the existing HSA you will be transferring from.

For existing United Bank customers: You will need your United Bank online banking username and password, OR if you choose not to use your online banking credentials please refer to the information required for new customers listed above. If you are opening an HSA and funding with a transfer or rollover, you will need your most recent statement from the existing HSA you will be transferring from.

If you are opening a business account: Depending on the type of business, you may need some of the following documents: Business Certificate, Resolution Document, Article of Organization/LLC Certificate of Organization, and/or trade name certificate. You will also need the driver’s license of each authorized signer.

Q. Can an applicant open the same type of account online more than once?

A. Yes. For example, you can apply online for a 12 Month CD and then open an additional 12 Month CD once your first application is fully completed.

Q. Can I open more than one account at a time online?

A. Yes. You can submit an application for up to three products at a time.

Q. How can I tell if I successfully opened my account online?

A. You will receive a Congratulations email from United Bank confirming your new account has been opened.

Q. How do I make an initial deposit for an account that I want to open online?

A. There are three ways to make your initial deposit into your new account.

Internal Transfer‐ If you are already a United Bank customer and you want to use your existing United Bank checking or savings account to fund your new account, you will need your account number. You can find this on the bottom of a check, or through online banking by selecting “Account Info” on the menu bar.

External Transfer – If you want to use funds from a checking or savings account you have at a different bank to fund your new account, you will need the account and routing number. To ensure the safety and security of your funds, before the transfer is made United Bank will make two “test” micro-deposits to your designated funding account. The funding account must be a bank checking or savings account. We’ll then offset those deposits with a single withdrawal. You will be prompted to verify the amounts of the two small deposits made to your designated funding account in order to initiate the funding of your new United Bank account. Once you have completed this step you will be presented with a confirmation screen that your funding account has been verified and that your transfer will be processed.
PLEASE NOTE: As soon as you verify the “test” micro-deposits, we will immediately process the transaction to fund your new account.

Mailed Check‐ You have the option to mail in a check for deposit into your new account. You will receive email confirmation when the check has been received and deposited into your new account.

Q. How do I get my new account agreements and disclosures?

A. All documentation will be provided electronically during the account opening process. Additionally, the documents will be emailed to you during the application process in order for you to keep them in your records.

Q. What if I start the application but cannot finish right away? Can I go back to the Online Account Opening application later?

A. Yes. You can resume your application using a link provided to you in your email or by going to the United Bank website and selecting the resume online deposit application link. You will be prompted to enter one of the following three combinations in order to resume: Online Banking ID and password, Date of Birth and SSN, or Date Business Established and EIN.

Q. How soon after my account is successfully opened online will I have access to the funds that are now in my account?

A. If you transfer from an existing United Bank account your funds will be available immediately. If funding from an external bank account your funds will be available five days after they arrive in your new account.

Q. When does interest begin accruing on accounts that I open online?

A. CD products begin earning interest from the day the account is opened. For interest bearing checking and savings accounts, your account begins earning interest the day your account is funded. Interest accrues on the available balance in your account.

Q. How long will it take for my new account(s) to be added to my accounts in Online Banking?

A. Your new account will be added to your online banking profile the next business day following account opening.

Q. It has been at least one business day since I opened my account(s) online and I do not see it displayed in online banking. What do I need to do so I can see my new account(s)?

A. Your current view options might be set to hide the account. To correct this, log in to online banking and find the section on the page labeled “My Accounts.” Once there, click on the gear shaped icon which will open a window labeled “Configure My Accounts.” On the right side of this window you will see the product name(s) for the accounts that you can add to your displayed list of accounts. Simply click the plus sign “+” to add to your new account to your displayed list of accounts.

A. Feel free to visit your nearest United Bank branch or call our Customer Care Center at 866‐959‐BANK (2265) Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm and Saturday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
