Housing Education Resource Center Receives Grant from the Rockville Bank Foundation

HERC helps tenants, landlords, home buyers and home owners who are unable to resolve their housing problems on their own.

The Rockville Bank Foundation recently awarded a $5,000.00 grant to the Housing Education Resource Center (HERC).  These funds will be used to support the housing counseling, information, education, mediation, intervention and referral services provided by HERC to those seeking help with their housing problems and answers to their housing questions.

“We are thrilled to receive this support,” stated Executive Director Susan Harkett-Turley.  “Our services are provided to consumers at no charge, so we rely on the generosity of entities such as the Rockville Bank Foundation to enable us to continue to offer them.”
 Tymina HERC
The Housing Education Resource Center helps tenants, landlords, home buyers and home owners who are unable to resolve their housing problems on their own.  Topics addressed include fair housing, first-time home buying, housing mobility, evictions, security deposits, repairs and maintenance, leases, housing assistance programs and many others.

While the primary goal of its services is to help households address their specific problem or concern, HERC also educates consumers about housing rights, responsibilities, processes and procedures.  The education component of services helps clients to become more knowledgeable about housing and more self-sufficient and confident in dealing with their housing situation.

The Rockville Bank Foundation was established in May 1998 to assist in improving the quality of life in all “Rockville Bank: A Division of United Bank” communities they serve.
