United Bank Foundation awards $17,000 to Worcester area non-profits – April 8, 2013
Dena M. Hall, president of the United Bank Foundation, announced today that the sum of $17,000 was awarded to three non-profit organizations in the Worcester region in the Foundation’s most recent round of funding.
The American Antiquarian Society received a grant of $10,000 from the Foundation to support the Isaiah Thomas – Patriot Printer tour to all fifth grades in the Worcester Public School System. The theatrical presentation about printer Isaiah Thomas, the foremost publisher in the era of the American Revolution, is an interactive program designed to meet history curriculum goals.
The Foundation awarded $5,000 to the Massachusetts Audubon Society to fund the Let’s Go! program for Worcester East Middle School students. The program focuses on increasing physical activity, raising environmental awareness, and enriching science education.
A grant of $2,000 was awarded to Bottom Line, to provide support to first-generation college students, from the application process through college graduation.
