United Bank Foundation Mass Dedicates $10,000 to Cancer House of Hope
The United Bank Foundation Massachusetts announced today that they have awarded $10,000 to the Center for Human Development, Inc. (CHD) to support the high quality and free programming provided through their Cancer House of Hope in West Springfield, Massachusetts.
The Cancer House of Hope is a CHD program that offers free services to nearly 400 individuals – between the ages of 20 and 80 from Western and Central Massachusetts and North Central Connecticut – who are fighting cancer. The Cancer House of Hope’s vast programming includes support groups for cancer patients as well as their families; yoga; reiki; massage therapy; and nutrition counseling. Through CHD’s Cancer House of Hope, cancer patients have access to top-notch health and wellness programs that assist them in staying focused on their physical and emotional well-being while they cope with the side effects that result from cancer treatment, including pain, fatigue, weakness and sleep issues – among many other challenges.
The Cancer House of Hope also collaborates with a network of cancer care providers in the region, including Sister Caritas Cancer Center in Springfield, D’Amour Center for Cancer Care in Springfield and Johnson Memorial Cancer Center in Enfield – solid partnerships that help lessen the difficult journey for patients and their families.
“All of us know someone – a family member, friend, neighbor or co-worker – who is fighting cancer or has beaten this disease. With the free and much-needed programming offered by CHD’s Cancer House of Hope, patients and their family members have a strong network of support to help guide them through the difficult physical and emotional challenges that arise during the strenuous stages of cancer treatment,” said Dena M. Hall, President of the United Bank Foundation Massachusetts, Regional President and Chief Marketing Officer. “The $10,000 we are investing in this community partnership is our clear endorsement of the great work the Cancer House of Hope does for hundreds of individuals from Western and Central Massachusetts and North Central Connecticut.”
