United Bank Foundation Connecticut Shows its Support of Military Veterans in the State's Job Market
United Bank Foundation Connecticut was proud to partner with the nonprofit organization Save-a-Suit as a sponsor of their daylong program at the Hamden Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Business and Community Expo where they distributed business suits to military veterans from the Greater New Haven area while providing helpful information on how to succeed in the job market. The event was held on April 15, 2015 at the CFC Arena in Hamden, Conn.
Save-a-Suit is a 501c3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to “provide military veterans and college graduates with professional business attire and the confidence needed to succeed” and are committed to “helping veterans one suit at a time.”
The United Bank Foundation Connecticut was Save-a-Suit’s “Gold Cufflink Sponsor” for donating $5,000 to the organization, which meant the Bank was able to sponsor all veterans participating in their program at the Chamber’s expo.
In addition to helping provide suits to participating military veterans, United’s generosity helped support other programs offered onsite by Save-a-Suit. This included seminars covering topics such as “Transferring Military Skills to the Civilian Workforce” and “Linkedin for Personal Branding” as well as workshops on resume review and development and information from CT Works and the Connecticut Department of Labor.

Crawford, IV, Chief Executive Officer of United Bank. “Our veterans selflessly serve our country overseas and right here at home and have made countless personal and professional sacrifices to protect our freedoms. We hope our donation to Save-a-Suit will help our veterans overcome any barriers they face when it comes to securing employment. We all have something to learn from the men and women who proudly serve our country and providing them the confidence they need to gain meaningful employment is one way we can say ‘thank you for serving’.”
This is the second donation the United Bank Foundation Connecticut has made in recent months in support of Connecticut servicemen and women and their families. In December 2014, the United Bank Foundation Connecticut donated $5,000 to the Connecticut National Guard Foundation’s Operation E.L.F. (Embracing Lonely Families) program, which supports families of soldiers and airmen from Connecticut who are deployed overseas during the holidays as well as military families in need throughout the year by generating new, unwrapped toys, gift cards for grocery and department stores, seasonal services and monetary contributions.
