Winterfest Hartford Returns to Bushnell Park on November 23

More activities for children this year on and off the rink.

(Hartford, Conn. November 20, 2018) The iQuilt Partnership today announced that the Winterfest rink in Bushnell Park will return this year offering the public free ice skating, free skate rentals and free learn to skate classes from November 23, 2018 to January 6, 2019.

For the second year in a row, United Bank will be the presenting sponsor of the event.

“We would not be able to bring this amazing family activity back to the capital city without the support of corporate partners like United Bank,” said Jim Carter, Chair of the iQuilt Partnership Board.

Highlights of this year’s schedule include:

The Bushnell Park ice rink will be open for free skating daily November 23 to January 6 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., except for Christmas Eve, Christmas and New Year’s Day, when it will be open noon to 4 p.m.; and New Year’s Eve, when it will be open from 11 a.m. to midnight, to correspond with First Night festivities. Free learn-to-skate classes are offered on Saturdays in December from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. In addition, Winterfest offers free photos with Santa Claus on Saturdays and Sundays in December from noon-3 p.m. at the Bushnell Park carousel.

The carousel will be open on Saturdays and Sundays of Winterfest from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. offering rides for $1.

A carol sing on November 27 on the steps of UConn Hartford on Prospect Street will feature a choral performance at 5 p.m., followed by community carols at 5:30 p.m.
