United Bank Promotes Oswald “Ozzy” Obando to VP, Commercial Banking
(Hartford, Conn. September 5, 2018) United Bank of Hartford, Connecticut today announced the promotion of Oswald “Ozzy” Obando of Springfield, Massachusetts to Vice President and Commercial Banker, joining the Bank’s Wholesale Banking Team in Hartford that is responsible for growing the Bank’s Commercial and Industrial (C&I) lending portfolio.
Obando’s banking career spans nearly 15 years and has been with United Bank since 2015, where he previously held the title of Assistant Vice President and Risk Officer/Portfolio Manager on the Bank’s Syndicated Loan team. In this role, Obando managed and grew a diverse syndicated loan portfolio comprised of middle market and publicly-traded companies throughout the US.
On October 30, approximately 1,900 students from 34 schools participated in the FitKids event. In total for their spring and fall events in 2018, approximately 2,250 students from 46 schools participated in this HMF program. To complement the United Bank Foundation’s financial generosity of this community partnership, volunteers from the Bank also participated in the program’s activities.
Prior to United Bank, Obando held various roles in commercial banking at People’s United Bank, including Credit Analyst, Senior Credit Analyst and eventually transitioned to Relationship Manager, responsible for managing and growing their C&I portfolio in Western Mass. His career started at Chicopee Savings Bank, where he served as a bank teller in retail banking and a credit analyst in commercial lending.
Obando is a 2010 graduate of Western New England University in Springfield, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration – double majoring in Finance and Accounting. While at Western New England University, Obando earned various academic awards and honors.
Obando will be based at United’s corporate headquarters located at Goodwin Square in downtown Hartford.
