United Bank Foundation Dedicates $30,000 to HMF’s 2018 FitKids in School Program

(Hartford, Conn. October 31, 2018) The United Bank Foundation Connecticut, through its ongoing community partnership with the Hartford Marathon Foundation (HMF), invested $30,000 in HMF’s 2018 FitKids in School program. United Bank was also a Presenting Level Sponsor of the 2018 Eversource Hartford Marathon & Half Marathon that took place on Saturday, October 13, 2018.

HMF is fully committed to helping school children develop a healthy, active lifestyle. Through HMF FitKids in School, they support elementary and middle school students with a six week, goal-oriented running program at no cost to the student or their participating school. The culmination was a grand “Medal Day” event on October 30 at Rentschler Field in East Hartford with music, cheering spectators, commemorative finisher medals, t-shirts, healthy snacks and fitness activities.

On October 30, approximately 1,900 students from 34 schools participated in the FitKids event. In total for their spring and fall events in 2018, approximately 2,250 students from 46 schools participated in this HMF program. To complement the United Bank Foundation’s financial generosity of this community partnership, volunteers from the Bank also participated in the program’s activities.
