United Bank Foundation Massachusetts Donates $5,000 to the Worcester Art Museum
The United Bank Foundation Massachusetts announced today that they have partnered with the Worcester Art Museum (WAM) for “Free August”, which is their annual program that offers everyone free admission to the Museum during the entire month of August.
The $5,000 sponsorship by United’s Massachusetts Foundation, along with the continued generosity from The Kirby Foundation, will help make it possible for thousands of individuals, including families and community groups, to visit WAM free-of-charge to experience the permanent collections and transformative exhibitions on display. The Museum is world-renowned for its 37,500-piece collection of paintings, sculpture, decorative arts, photography, prints, drawings and new media. The works span 5,000 years of art and culture.
In 2016, an estimated 17,000 people visited WAM during “Free August”, including 6,000 senior citizens, youth and children. For many of the 17,000 visitors last year this was their first experience with the Museum. WAM has been offering “Free August” since 2012.
“Whether you’ve been a long-time supporter of the arts or are looking for something different to do this summer, this is a wonderful opportunity to take in their permanent collection, see their latest exhibitions or participate in one of WAM’s daily activities,” said Tom McGregor, Senior Vice President and Regional Commercial Banking Executive. “I can speak from personal experience that the Worcester Art Museum is an enriching destination right here in Worcester and if you take advantage of Free August you’ll see first-hand why it’s earned the reputation for being a cultural treasure in Central New England.”
