United Bank Foundation Massachusetts Awards $10,000 to the Boys & Girls Club of West Springfield
WEST SPRINGFIELD, MASS., April 14, 2015
– The United Bank Foundation Massachusetts announced today that they have awarded $10,000 to the Boys & Girls Club of West Springfield to support their Math and Literacy Educational Program initiative.
The Club’s Math and Literacy Program is designed to provide additional assistance to students in kindergarten through the 4th
grade by making available enrichment programs to those students attending the after-school program at the Club as well as after-school programs offered at West Springfield elementary schools. The program is also aligned with the West Springfield public school’s Journey Literacy curriculum and Visions and Focus Math curriculum, which are aimed at reinforcing the skills children learn at school.
“Year-after-year, through it’s more than 50 impactful programs, the Boys & Girls Club of West Springfield has shaped the lives of thousands of area youths by providing the educational support, access to recreational programs and the important life skills our children need to achieve success in the classroom and become impactful members of our community,” said Dena M. Hall, Western Mass Regional President and President of the United Bank Foundation Massachusetts. “The Boys & Girls Club of West Springfield is well-deserving of our generosity because, when it comes to children and families in West Springfield, this nonprofit always upholds what it says: ‘great futures start here’.”
Hall added that since its inception the United Bank Foundation Massachusetts (formerly named the United Bank Foundation) has donated more than $2.5 million to area nonprofit organizations and causes. The Foundation’s generosity is complemented by the thousands of hours of volunteerism employees dedicate to communities throughout Massachusetts and Connecticut served by United Bank.
