The Ludlow Community Center/Randall Boys & Girls Club has received a two year grant in the amount of $10,000 from the United Bank Foundation Massachusetts. The $5,000 annual award will be used for the expansion of the organization’s summer literacy programs.
The Ludlow Community Center/Randall Boys and Girls Club literacy programs currently provides over 216 members in our preschool and afterschool programs a variety of literacy programs. As a part of the Club’s summer program we provide a variety of literacy activities such as a small group summer tutoring program and high-yield learning activities promoting reading development with a goal of limiting summer learning loss for participants. Members also have daily access to the Club’s Learning Center, books, computers, educational games, and books on tape.
By expanding literacy programs, our vision at the Ludlow Community Center/Randall Boys & Girls Club is that every Club member graduates from high school, ready for a post-secondary education and a 21st century career.
“United Bank and our Foundation are proud supporters of the many Boys & Girls Clubs that serve thousands of youths in Springfield and throughout the Western Mass region. The partnership between the Randall Boys & Girls Club and the United Bank Foundation is a perfect example of the impact two community-focused organizations can have on the lives of local youths,” said Dena M. Hall, Western Mass Regional President and President of the United Bank Foundation Massachusetts. “Thanks to the Club and their vision that ultimately created this Learning Center, they not only developed high quality literacy programming but they made learning fun and the curriculum engaging to effectively bridge the learning loss that frequently occurs after the school year ends.”
