United Bank Foundation CT Announces its 2019 Academic Scholarship & Vocational Award Winners
(Hartford, Conn., May 9, 2019) The United Bank Foundation Connecticut today announced that they recently awarded their annual academic scholarships and vocational awards totaling $61,250 to 31 area high school and vocational school students who are graduating in 2019.
At Foundation’s award ceremonies on April 29 and May 1, United Bank presented the academic scholarships to 18 college-bound high school students who have demonstrated leadership, community involvement and strong academic records. The United Bank Foundation Connecticut also awarded their 2019 Vocational Awards to 13 area vocational students who excelled in vocational arts and demonstrated a high level of character and integrity in their respective school and community. The Vocational Awards are given to students who anticipate joining the workforce immediately following graduation or who will be participating in work-related, occupational training.
“Each year the United Bank Foundation Connecticut donates hundreds of thousands of dollars to non-profit organizations in Connecticut and among the most special contributions we make are the scholarships and vocational awards we give to inspiring and high achieving graduating high school students. Our goal is to recognize these students for a job well done in school and in the community while providing financial assistance to help defray the costs of college tuition and occupational training. They’ve worked incredibly hard in school and are well-deserving of this accolade and recognition,” said William H.W. Crawford, IV, Chief Executive Officer and President of United Bank and United Financial Bancorp, Inc.
The United Bank Foundation Connecticut, formerly named the Rockville Bank Foundation, started their academic scholarships and vocational awards program in 1999. Since then, the Foundation has awarded $588,250 in academic scholarships and $270,750 in vocational awards. Overall, the Bank has awarded $859,000 in academic and vocational awards over the past 20 years to area graduating students.
