United Bank Cuts the Ribbon at its Newest Branch at CityPlace in Downtown Hartford

United Bank Cuts the Ribbon at its Newest Branch at CityPlace in Downtown Hartford

(Hartford, Conn. July 11, 2018) Joined by Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin, customers and other local dignitaries, William H.W. Crawford (CEO and President) and the United Bank team officially cut the ribbon to its newest branch location at 185 Asylum Street – CityPlace – in Hartford’s Central Business District.

The branch is located on the street level of the City Place building. The location is designed to provide United’s commercial, business and personal banking customers a full-service customer experience in downtown Hartford.

Last year, United Bank moved its corporate headquarters from Glastonbury, Conn. to the Goodwin Square Office Tower in Hartford’s Central Business District, becoming the building’s signature tenant and bringing well over 200 jobs to the downtown area. United is the only bank headquartered in the Capital City.

The new branch location further positions the bank to be in close proximity to the highest concentration of business and government deposits within the Hartford Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA). It’s an opportunity for the United Bank team to build on their deposit market share in Greater Hartford.

“Today marks another milestone event in United’s 160-year history,” said William H.W. Crawford, IV, CEO & President of United Bank. “Opening this branch positions us to secure greater deposit market share in the Hartford region while providing our commercial and business banking teams with a conveniently-located, physical presence in the Central Business District. It also expands our growing presence and corporate branding in the Capital City, strengthens our community partnerships among area nonprofits and adds us to the growing list of other businesses, academic institutions and local residents who are helping to revitalize downtown Hartford.”

“United Bank made a big statement last year by moving its corporate headquarters into Hartford, and I am very glad to see them continue to invest in our Capital City,” said Mayor Bronin. “United Bank has become involved in our community very quickly, from supporting community causes to supporting important projects in Hartford. I want to thank Bill Crawford and his team for believing in Hartford.”
