United Bank, Springfield Thunderbirds "United in the Community"
The Springfield Thunderbirds are proud to announce their 2017-18 "United in the Community" campaign, presented by United Bank.
“What we’ve witnessed from the Springfield Thunderbirds after just one season is far more than just delivering great AHL hockey and affordable family entertainment. They’re dedicated community partners with United Bank and so many others like us who are proud to live and do business in the Western Mass and Pioneer Valley regions,” said Dena M. Hall, Western Mass Regional President, Chief Marketing Officer and President of the United Bank Foundation Massachusetts. “United Bank and the Thunderbirds are truly ‘United in the Community’ and we look forward to continuing to be their teammates again on and off the ice this season.”
Throughout the 2017-18 season, the Thunderbirds players, staff, and mascot "Boomer" will continue to be active in the Western Massachusetts community through functions ranging from city parades and philanthropic efforts to school visits and youth hockey clinics.
For a second straight season, the Thunderbirds will also remain active with area schools through their Stick to Reading program. Additionally, last spring, the Thunderbirds were privileged to receive the "Champion of Youth Award" from the Boys & Girls Club of Springfield.
The Thunderbirds received another honor earlier this month as recipients of the Center for Human Development "Key Award" for their continued support of the Western Mass Knights sled hockey program.
"We at the Thunderbirds take great pride in being a pillar of our Western Massachusetts community," said Thunderbirds President Nathan Costa. "We are so pleased to have United Bank working with us hand-in-hand as we continue to grow our charitable presence throughout the Pioneer Valley."
