Tony Liberopoulos Named Community Bank Hero by Banker & Tradesman

United Bank of Glastonbury, Connecticut, today announced that Tony Liberopoulos,  Senior Vice President and Regional Commercial Banking Officer, was named a 2017 Community Bank Hero by The Warren Group/Banker & Tradesman.

According to Banker & Tradesman, a financial industry and real estate weekly publication for Massachusetts, the Community Bank Heroes Award honors the achievements, commitment and dedication of financial professionals who go above and beyond for their institution and community. To be selected for the award, the banker must be dedicated to service and reinvestment in the community and make charitable giving a priority. The nominations are reviewed by an independent panel of judges who decide which nominees are the most exceptional examples of their Community Bank Heroes Award.

Liberopoulos, who is based in West Springfield and resides in Feeding Hills, was nominated for the award by Dan Flynn, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Wholesale Banking at United Bank. He was among only 13 leading Massachusetts bankers to be honored with the 2017 Community Bank Heroes Award. The winners were presented the award on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at their annual event in Boston.

Liberopoulos joined United Bank in 2015 and has over 30 years of commercial banking experience in the Western Mass region. In addition to his professional contributions in the banking industry, what also earned him this award was his volunteerism in the community where he serves on the Advisory Board for the Ronald McDonald House of Connecticut and Western Massachusetts and the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

“Tony has rightfully earned the utmost respect in Massachusetts not only for his professional accomplishments but also for his selfless commitment, personal sacrifices and unwavering devotion to the community. It truly sets him apart in the industry,” said Dan Flynn, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Wholesale Banking. “Tony is dedicated to his job and taking care of his customers. But he also demonstrates that same selfless commitment to making the Greater Springfield community an even better place to live, work and raise a family. For those reasons, we congratulate Tony and thank him for everything he does inside the Bank and out in the community,”
